PHILLY ACE NOSES OUT ROADHOG IN ALPHABET SOUP

Philly Ace, a 4-year old gelded son of Smart Strike, won the $100,000 Alphabet Soup Handicap, run at 1 1/16 miles on the turf, on September 22 at Parx.  Owned and bred by Brushwood Stable, Philly Ace had to wait for running room around the far turn before swinging three wide at the quarter pole and securing the lead in the final furlong.  He had to hold off Roadhog, who closed late and just missed by a nose on the wire.  Philly Ace has now won 6 of his 12 races and earned over $270,000.
