Edge of Reality won the $100,000 Alphabet Soup Handicap on PA Derby Day at Parx. EDGE OF REALITY settled early, advanced in the three path down the backstretch, took over when ready near the quarter pole, moved clear and remained safe to the finish ROADHOG taken in hand early, rallied in the two path, moved wider in the lane and made a gradual late gain. PAGE MCKENNEY pursued the loose pacesetter inside, moved with the winner on the turn, steadied briefly inside winner while tiring at the eighth pole. DANCING LOUNGE lagged well back inside, weaved through traffic and closed well. LIGHTNING ELECTRIC dropped back early, saved ground on the final turn and offered only a mild bid. ATHELSTANE chased close up inside to the final turn then faltered. STARRY MOON trailed for half a mile then passed fading rivals. S S SKITTLES lacked early speed outside and failed to rally. TRAFFIC LIGHT rated inside off the loose pacesetter then began fading after a half. ATLANTIC SEABOARD quickly sprinted away, extended his margin before the half then stopped. EL CAPITAN chased outside and stopped abruptly.
