Disco Chick Holds on for 3rd at G2 Honorable Miss Handicap

Haveyougoneaway battled with heavy favorite Paulassilverlining the length of the stretch before finally putting her away nearing the wire to win the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap by a neck at Saratoga July 27.

The victory was the first graded stakes win for both the 5-year-old daughter of Congrats and her trainer, Thomas Morley.

A field of seven fillies and mares went to the post in the Honorable Miss, with two-time graded stakes winner Paulassilverlining being sent off as the favorite.

At the start it was Paulassilverlining that briefly went to the lead before jockey Jose Ortiz got her to relax and settle well off the hotly-contested pace set by Diva Express and Disco Chick.

As the field entered the far turn, Disco Chick shook off Diva Express and took the lead. Right behind her was Paulassilverlining, who quickly reeled in Disco Chick and took the lead with a furlong to run. The favorite appeared briefly to have the field at her mercy, but Haveyougoneaway was closing like a freight train, rallying furiously while racing four-wide.

The two fillies battled through the stretch and to the wire, with Haveyougoneaway finally wearing down her foe to win by a neck. Disco Chick held on for third, 12 lengths further back.

Final time for the six furlongs was 1:09.94 over a fast main track.

Haveyougoneaway was bred in New York by Andy and Susan Beadnell. The chestnut mare is by Congrats and is out of the unraced Wiseman’s Ferry mare, One Wise Cowgirl. She is trained by Thomas Morley for owner Sequel Racing.
