PANTS ON FIRE AMONG NEW PA STALLIONS

Despite steady decline in the number of mares bred to Pennsylvania stallions, several new offerings are available for 2016.
First-season stallions include millionaire Pants On Fire, who enters stud at Diamond B Farm for $5,000. The son of Jump Start won four graded stakes, including the 2011 Louisiana Derby (gr. II). Xixixi, a Maimonides half brother to American Pharoah, enters stud at Xanthus Farm for $5,000, having been claimed for that price in April. Last Gunfighter, a $1.2 million earner by First Samurai, will stand for $4,000 at Pin Oak Lane Farm.
Two group/grade I winners will be Pennsylvania first-timers in 2016—Lord Shanakill and Swagger Jack. A French group I winner, Lord Shanakill previously stood at the Irish National Stud. The son of Speightstown whose oldest runners are 3-year-olds relocates to Pin Oak Lane Farm for $4,000. Swagger Jack, the 2013 Carter Handicap (gr. I) winner by Smart Strike, moves from Indiana to stand for $3,500 at Dana Point Farm. BH
