On October 4th at Timonium, breeders, bidders, and consigners alike gathered for the Fasig-Tipton Midatlantic fall yearling sale. This year, 267 yearlings sold for $6,356,600 – more than a million dollars more than last year’s gross receipts (Mitchell).
The second highest-selling yearling was a PA-Bred by Uncle Mo, consigned by Darby Dan Farm, that sold for $290,000 to Charles Zacney – co-owner of Afleet Alex and Cathryn Sophia and the guest speaker at the recent 2015 PHBA Iroquois Awards Banquet. The filly was bred by Pennsylvanian local Thomas G. McClay, who also bred the third highest-selling PA-Bred – a Munnings colt that went for $50,000.
