Any Given Saturday Sold to Korean Interests

Grade I winner Any Given Saturday   has been purchased by the Korea Thoroughbred Breeders Association and will relocate to South Korea for the 2015 breeding season, it was announced Oct. 17.

“The Breeders Association in Korea is always looking for a proven racehorse that has been able to then pass along that exceptional to his foals,” said Jun Park, bloodstock advisor to the KTBA. “Any Given Saturday is just that kind of horse and will fit very well with the country’s growing breeding program. To be able to bring him to Korea, especially with the outstanding year he’s having as a sire, is very exciting.”

Any Given Saturday, a 10-year-old son of Distorted Humor  , stood the 2014 season at Pin Oak Lane Farm in Pennsylvania for a $5,000 fee, and prior to that stood at Darley from the beginning of his stud career in 2008.

In 2014, Any Given Saturday is represented by the the earners of nearly $5 million led by his 2-year-old daughter Cristina’s Journey. The undefeated filly earned a spot in the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) with a wire-to-wire victory in the Pocahontas Stakes (gr. II) in just her second career start.

His son Hoppertunity, winner of the Rebel Stakes (gr. II) and second in the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) earlier this year. Any Given Saturday’s eight total stakes winners in 2014 also include Appleton Handicap (gr. IIIT) winner Hey Leroy.

He has also sired Dixie Indy, champion 2-year-old colt in Puerto Rico, multiple Panamanian graded winner Tomas Gabriel, and stakes winners Show Some Magic, Princess Arabella, and Richies Party Girl.

Any Given Saturday won the Haskell Invitational (gr. I) by 4 1/2 lengths, as well as the Brooklyn Hnadicap (gr. II) and Dwyer Stakes (gr. II). He won four of 11 lifetime starts while earning $1,083,533.

Any Given Saturday is out of the A.P. Indy mare Weekend In Indy, also dam of graded stakes winner Bohemian Lady.
